Opis w języku angielskim: Bloodwork is a dark fantasy RPG board game with deep character customization, unique enemy AI mechanics, and a rewarding and infinitely replayable campaign. You are a mercenary hired to defend the port town of Westarch from marauders, but you will soon find there are plenty of opportunities for both blood and coin in this shattered world.
COMBAT
The heart of Bloodwork is its combat. Players will use their mercenaries’ unique abilities and equipment to battle enemies with devious and punishing mechanics. Round order is controlled by the enemy AI deck, determining which of the three groups activate and in what order: Mercenaries, Minions or Leader. Players will often activate in the middle of the other two, meaning they will have a chance to plan against the next action the enemies will take, sometimes even interrupting the leader’s strongest attacks.
Should you flee from a massive AOE from a boss, or focus your efforts on knocking his minions into the line of fire? In Bloodwork players are rewarded for leveraging their abilities and using the map terrain to their advantage as they take down the greatest threats Morana has to offer.
LOOTING
Great riches await among the fractured remains of your enemies, should you live long enough to retrieve them. Choose your targets carefully, as minions will flee with the death of their leader, taking their valuable loot with them. However, slaying all the minions (or taking too long in general) can enrage the leader, resulting in deadly consequences.
Obtain resources from fallen foes and use them to craft new equipment back in town. Have your eye on a specific recipe? Trade your excess resources to secure the right mats for the job.
CAMPAIGN
Each chapter in Bloodwork’s campaign has its own main quest chain as well as randomly drawn side quests. Each battle the players engage in has a unique leader, save for a handful of sequential quests that feature a colorful cast of memorable foes. Many named leaders have their own loot tables, with unique and powerful gear wrested from their lifeless grasp.
MONSTERS
Without Xalgaren’s stabilizing presence, threats old and new are making their violent claims across the continent. People may resist, but once a region is lost it may never be found again. The Damemark is facing such a fate, trapped between the Solkyrr Desert to the south and the goblin and orc lands to the north and east. The goblins have invaded in large numbers, sacking towns and villages and treating the humans and other civilians like cattle.
Zombies and other undead roam freely across the countryside, as do a variety of other monsters and villains. Deserter knights are no better than common brigands, killing and stealing from refugees and consolidating power under their own bloody banners. Dark forces claw at the walls between realms, breaking into our world and festering in the shadowy corners of the region. The Damemark is not an isolated case; all of Morana is slipping into twilight and the further it falls the bolder those that covet the darkness shall become.
Leaders are at the center of every fight in Bloodwork, determining the type of loot, the minions and how the AI controls your opponents. The entire system was designed from the ground up to be versatile and expandable, allowing us to keep adding content for players to enjoy.
MERCENARIES
The mercenaries of Bloodwork were designed to be played across multiple campaigns, with a combination of rich customization through class changes combined with both predetermined and random attribute growth. When paired with Bloodwork’s robust loot system, the same character class will feel different across multiple campaigns.
Your mercenary starts with a basic class and can select from related advanced classes as they level. Above we have an Archer (T1), who can advance to either a peerless Wayfinder or the clever Tracker (both T2), each with their own divergent class choices beyond. The Wayfinder has access to the Ranger and Marksman (T3), both deadly ranged combatants with different combat focuses. The Tracker has access to the Beastmaster and Trapper (T3), who, as their names suggest, favor deadly beasts and insidious traps respectively.
The members of the Mercenary Guild hail from all over Morana and include many of the world’s civilized races. Formerly a society of adventurers, the guild has abandoned its heroic roots in favor of contracts and coin over gallantry and self-sacrifice.
Bloodwork gives you a full RPG character experience with simple concepts funneled into complex decision-making. Everything is streamlined and organized with your mercenary board, a dual-layered punchboard sheet that keeps everything you need right in front of you. With a variety of races, classes and equipment available, your mercenary will feel truly unique and undeniably yours.
Mercenary equipment is spread across multiple tiers, allowing you to upgrade your gear as your mercenary levels. Some equipment can be purchased or crafted, others can only be obtained after finding special crafting recipes. Unique leaders also drop unique equipment (and sometimes exclusive recipes), meaning you’ll always have a weapon or armor piece to push for.
