As the sun rises upon your garden, the dew glistening on your cherished blooms, you pause to reflect on the labour, patience, and affection required to transform it into something truly beautiful. Still, you sense that something remains wanting: that final, ineffable touch which might elevate the garden from merely lovely to utterly magnificent. Ah, yes. Of course! What it lacks are floral dragons! Those exquisite creatures, imbued with the very essence of the flowers you so dearly treasure, would lend your garden the liveliness and wonder it so clearly deserves. The world of Ghardinn positively teems with them, and yet, for reasons most puzzling, not a single one has seen fit to take up residence within the estate you have so carefully prepared. This, plainly, will not do! It is time to set matters right. Gather your expedition supplies, assemble a capable party, and venture forth upon a journey of adventure, discovery, and, most importantly, floral dragons. But beware, the wider world is rife with many perils. Outbreaks of pleurossa corruption spread with alarming persistence, and not every floral dragon greets outsiders with kindness. Nevertheless, you have never been one to shrink from danger where flowers are concerned, and you certainly will not begin now, not when floral dragons are involved!
In Botany: Floral Dragons you will assume the role of a botanist, travelling the world in search of fame, fortune, and the coveted honor of floral dragons residing in your garden. As you travel the globe to befriend floral dragons, you will need to manage your expedition funds, experience thrilling events, and acquire support for your journey. Each player begins the game with a set of randomized goals that they then use to plot their path to victory. When players set out from their estate, they have access only to the coins they can carry with them. They can use these coins to traverse the globe and gain crew members and items to improve their odds of surviving the unknown, enhance their abilities, and increase the efficiency with which they traverse the map. However, there is danger in spending too freely, and players must ensure they have enough wealth on hand to return to England with their specimens intact. Whenever you return to your estate, you will add new floral dragons and build new garden features to gain points. At the end of the game, the player with the most points (a combination of the most magnificent garden and the most dragons residing there) will be declared the winner!
