In CITY OF CHAOS, players explore the twisting, smog-filled streets of Byronitar, the "City of Chaos." The city and its inhabitants are in the grip of strange, entropic forces threatening to rip it apart; players must uncover the clues that will lead them to the sources of Chaos and restore order to the city. A cooperative adventure game for 1 to 5 players, designed to be played as a multi-session campaign.
How did we do it?
- - Non-destructive legacy-style campaign. One of the strong features of CITY OF CHAOS is that it provides many hours of adventure and enjoyment. Originally, however, there was no way to "save the game" between sessions. We completely redesigned the game components so that you can preserve the current status of the adventure and resume playing in a matter of minutes. And when you're finished, you can just start again and explore Byronitar once more!
- - Cooperative gameplay. The original CITY OF CHAOS was presented as a competitive game, with players "racing" to the solutions instead of delving deep into the mysteries of the city. Given the scope and type of game, we redesigned it to keep all players involved at all times and converted it into an engaging cooperative challenge.
- - Revised combat system. The combat system has been improved and streamlined to preserve the original card-based flavor while making it deeper and more intuitive to handle.
- - An amazing art gallery. The denizens of Byronitar, the Guilds, the final encounters, and the city itself have been visualized by an amazing duo of artists: Francesco Corli (characters and items) and Francesco Mattioli (city cartography and buildings). The game features more than 150 original pieces of art, all crafted with no AI involvement.
- - Original, asymmetric player characters. A new cast of characters has been created by the original designers and enhanced with asymmetric individual abilities, depicted with original art, and sculpted by the talented Fernando Armentano.
All these changes, along with many other smaller improvements, have been developed together with the original designers, Martyn Oliver and Colin Thornton, who have been involved in the creation of this new edition of this beloved game alongside the Italian design studio Radium Games.
