Chronicles of Khyronia is a strategy and adventure board game created by Juan Salvador Bella. Set in a savage continent recently opened to maritime routes, players arrive as adventurers with nothing but determination and a few coins, seeking to forge their legend through sweat and blood.
The game focuses on survival, resource management, and the tactical development of the land.
Key Gameplay Elements
Objective: Players compete to accumulate the highest number of Victory Points (VP).
The Seven Kingdoms: The board features seven distinct regions: Aethoria, Nerath, Veridia, Eldrador, Tharagon, Kyrios, and Elyria.
The Path of Effort: To gain riches, players must manually dig in mines, chop wood in deep forests, or quarry stone from steep cliffs.
Settlement Growth: Players use their gathered resources (wood, stone, and gems) to transform humble villages into grand Cities.
The Dice Tower Mechanics: A unique "Tower Phase" uses a mini-map where dice results are influenced by the player's current location. Landing in your current kingdom grants bonuses like extra Action Points (AP) or Impetus for combat.
Character Classes
Players choose from four distinct archetypes, each with unique stats and abilities:
Warrior: High health and combat prowess.
Geologist: Specialist in mining gems and stones.
Ranger: Expert in logging and resource substitution.
Rogue: Master of trade discounts and resource infiltration.
Challenges and Threats
The world of Khyronia is alive and dangerous:
Combat: Players face off against wolves, orcs, bandits, and legendary enemies using a system of contested rolls (Attack vs. Defense).
Missions: Adventurers can accept quests in major cities, ranging from dismantling cults to exploring ancient temples for Legendary Points.
Global Events: Every three rounds, global events like "Commercial Booms" or "Bandits on the Roads" change the rules for everyone.
