In Arribada, players lay out turtles during a mass nesting event known as an arribada, “arrival by sea.” The goal of the game is to place turtles in groups (sequences or sets) to score points and to make sure as few of your turtles as possible are left stranded by the end of the game. Family means no turtle gets left behind!
Arribada is an approachable strategy game with surprising depth and layered interaction. It’s satisfying and easy to build sets and sequences of your turtles, but things get even more interesting when players begin to fight over the same turtle! Some turtles are better at scoring you quick points, while others are super effective for capturing opponent tiles or gaining bonus turns. When you capture an opponent turtle, it becomes a wild to help you build even more lucrative groups! Meanwhile, players are competing for presence and majorities across the four quadrants for massive end-game points. But be careful, any stranded turtles at game end will hurt your score!
Players take turns placing a turtle tile, claiming a neutral tile, or capturing an opponent tile. The game end is triggered when a player places out their last turtle shell.
